Lazy Bear Island Finalists

"Lazy Bear Island," is an acrylic painting that I accomplished while on a painting retreat at Punta Mona in Costa Rica. While I normally paint bears, the sloth really caught my attention due to it's pensive nature, sweet disposition, and for it's nickname the "lazy bear," which seemed very fitting as a subject for me since I already have a fascination with bears. My work tends to be whimsical in nature with bold, bright colors and includes a touch of surrealism. I enjoy painting animals in surreal, yet naturalistic environments that create a sense of joy and playfullness for the viewer.
