Star Gate

Present- day horses reside in a world that was built by them, but not for them. They have faithfully built our cities, carried us across continents, planted our fields, and fought in our battles. The more we learn about their ways of thinking, the more we learn from them. Horses teach us to ground ourselves, live in the moment, play and have fun, and connect with other beings on a deep, energetic level. They teach us how to regain the consciousness taken from us by the modern environment in which we live. This journey to regain consciousness is the focus of Whitmire’s current work, in which she portrays horses interacting with man-made, yet otherworldly landscapes. This body of work invites the viewer to consider what it takes to find a sense of purpose in a world full of noise, chaos, and uncertainty. Perhaps learning from our equine companions will help light the way towards a brighter future.
